Matsuoka International is an affiliate of Matsuoka Kagu Seizo, located in Fuchu City, Hiroshima, the center of Japan’s most distinguished community of furniture artisans, designers and woodworkers. The company makes case goods in Fuchu City, and partners with exceptional craftsmen in the United States for the creation of fine upholstered goods. The company has been in existence since 1866.

Matsuoka International has a mission to serve the world community of lovers of fine things with exceptional objects for gracious living; artifacts conceived with a fresh approach to design and interior furnishing both as an architectural discipline and as a fashion statement. Designs are meticulously engineered, constructed with care, infused with an extraordinary aesthetic sensibility.

o Providing a fresh approach, conceived with a view toward creating a new idiom of International Design; neither strictly Asian, nor predominantly Occidental in orientation.
o Not “fusion” in the conventional sense, the aim is rather to provide objects which are visually, tactilely and ergonomically correct in their own right, possessed of an intrinsic aesthetic and comfort, emanating from the proper selection of materials, well conceived geometries, the right proportions, and scale to meet a diversity of interior requirements. There is flexibility of customization to adapt to various architectural and design challenges.

* To provide an international community of furniture designers and craftsmen with a creative outlet, accessing a multiplicity of media for the realization of enduring works of furniture art and accessories.
o The company possesses an enviable inventory of some of the most exotic timbers on the planet, and places at the disposition of artists precious metals, gems, stone, marble, textiles and leathers from around the world to indulge their artistic inclinations.
o Fuchu City craftsmen are famous for their fine woodwork, inlay, urushi lacquer and proprietary finish work which has distinguished them for centuries.
o Upholstery is made in Thomasville, North Carolina, in the United States, by artisans skilled in every phase of upholstery craft. Designs are aesthetically appealing, exceptionally comfortable and built to last.
